For every fishing trip, the fishermen have to give illegal gratification to the harbour preventive office, situated at the Karachi Fish Harbour, to obtain the necessary port clearance.

Would senior officials of the authorities concerned care to tell the public at large as to what should the fishermen do to carry on their business without being subjected to the undeterred, undesirable, horrendous and broad daylight extortion of millions of rupees a day by the customs preventive department?

Why no step has ever been taken by the authorities concerned to crush corruption which is not only adding to the suffering of the fishermen but is also harming the fishing industry as a whole?
