RAWALPINDI, Jan 13: The judge of anti terrorists court No. 2, Safdar Hussain Malik, on Monday awarded death sentence to a man for kidnapping three persons for ransom.
According to Golra police, Zahir Shah and Ishaq— who was awarded life imprisonment in the same case— had kidnapped Khalid, Ali and another person and taken them to the tribal area from Islamabad. They had demanded a ransom of Rs1.5 million.
Later, both the convicts freed the kidnapped persons after taking Rs500,000 from their families. However, both the convicts were traced and arrested by the police in the tribal area.
The court, which announced its verdict in Adiala Jail, also ordered the confiscation of the properties of both the convicts.
Meanwhile, the civil judge and judicial magistrate, Mohammad Iqbal Guraya, awarded four-and-a-half years of rigorous imprisonment to a convict for attempting a robbery and possessing unlicensed weapons.
The convict, Jehanzeb, had been booked by Pirwadhai police for attempting to commit robbery and possessing two pistols.
BANNED OUTFIT: The judge of anti terrorists court No 1, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, awarded six months and four months of rigorous imprisonment to Mohammad Taj and Mohammad Tariq, respectively, for distributing sectarian literature among people.
According to Kahuta police the convicts were the members of a banned outfit.
ACQUITTED: In an abduction and rape case, the additional district and sessions judge, Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed, acquitted a person after the victim in the case changed her statement in the court.
According to an FIR registered with the Sadar Bairooni police by Sajid Ahmed, the later had alleged that his wife (S) had been abducted and raped by Ishtiaq Ahmed. But in the court, (S) maintained that she had not been abducted by the accused nor assaulted.
