The debate regarding ‘foreign content’ being shown at prime time on Pakistani entertainment channels is on and we will not touch on it in this column. However, here is an interesting incident that recently took place and will tell you a lot about the double-standard that exist in the media.

A morning show anchor was interviewing Asif Reza Mir, Nabeel and a woman by the name of Hina Bayat on the subject of ‘foreign content’. The anchor himself was speaking loudly in favour of the ‘local content’. Then when he cut for the break, one of the promos of the different shows that were run during the break was of a programme called Page 3 (an Indian magazine show). Isn’t it interesting? Damn this foreign content!
