RAWALPINDI, Dec 29: The District Quality Control Board on Saturday registered cases against 19 drug stores and clinics for operating without licences or selling illegal drugs.

The board also issued warnings to four other clinics. Later, a meeting, presided over by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar, decided to send the cases to a drug court.

The meeting considered 33 cases against the medical stores, clinics and hospitals involved in different violations of drug rules and heard the parties concerned. Some of them were involved in using expired syringes.

The medical stores and clinics found violating the drugs rules are: Hamza Medical Store, Taxila; Al-Sehat Clinic, Wah Cantonment; Khawaja Medical Store, Gujar Khan; Mohsin Clinic, Taxila; Al-Malik Clinic, Wah Cantonment; Najeem Medical Store, Chur Chowk; Rasheed Clinic and Pharmacy, Janjua Clinic, Taxila; Bilal Clinic, Kahuta; Defence Medical Store, Morgah; Medhi Pak Limited, Tipu Road; Javed Clinic, Taxila; Naveed Medical Store, Kahuta; Anwar Medical Centre, Gujar Khan; Ali Medical Store, Kalar Syedan; Al-Sadeeq Medical Store, Murree; Shah Clinic, Chak Beli Khan; Abdul Ghafar Clinic, Murree and Madam Sherazi, Kalar Syedan.

Besides, the drug inspectors also sealed a chemist shop and Basharat Clinic in Chak Beli Khan; Nimra Pharma, Tariqabad; Ahmed Medical Store, Choa Khalsa; Gul Brothers, Iqbal Road; Al-Razaq Medical Store, Iqbal Road and Kings Pharmacy, Chandni Chowk. The issue will be brought before the board in the meeting next month.—A Reporter
