LAHORE, Dec 28: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has said that Pakistan may reconsider its decision of allowing Pakistan cricketers to feature in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), if they refuse to visit Pakistan in January.

“We are still awaiting confirmation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about the tour. If they don’t visit Pakistan, the PCB will also take a decision in the national interest regarding allowing our players to participate in the BPL,” Zaka told reporters here on Friday.

Zaka also said that the Indian team were also ready to visit Pakistan provided their government issued a security clearance, adding that provincial governments had the prime duty in ensuring security.

It is important to note that the BCB has included 51 Pakistan cricketers in its premier league due to which the PCB may face pressure from players requesting for NOCs to take part in the BPL.

There are reports that some Pakistan cricketers desperately seek NOCs from the PCB to feature in the BPL.

Earlier, Pakistan proposed to Bangladesh to send its national side on a three-day visit from Jan 12, 2013 to play an ODI and a T20 International in order to help the PCB revive international cricket in Pakistan.

Also, in a letter to the BCB, the PCB reminded its counterpart to fulfil its previous commitment otherwise Pakistani cricketers may not be able to take part in the Bangladesh league.

It is pertinent to mention that Bangladesh team were to tour Pakistan in April this year, but it was deferred due to security fears which were also endorsed by their court.

Meanwhile, the PCB chief expressed satisfaction over performance of the Pakistan team in India, adding that the team was united and everyone was playing his due role.

Praising Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik for their performance in the first T20 International, the PCB chief hoped that there would be more fine performances by Pakistan in the coming matches.

Pakistan had talent in abundance and its new talent had come in the form of lanky paceman Mohammad Irfan, who had impressed in the opening T20, Zaka maintained.
