ISLAMABAD, Dec 25: The Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Mir Shahjahn Khetran, on Monday, said trekking is a burgeoning trend, popular with the younger generation of the twin cities.

Talking to newsmen, he said Trail-3 is the best example as the parking area is always full in the evening.

“On weekends, people start trekking from dawn to dusk exerting themselves, promoting physical fitness and setting off towards the mountains to breakaway from the grind of daily routine,” elaborated the MD.

Besides there being a road leading to Daman-e-Koh, Talhaar vilage, Monal Restaurant and Pir Sohawa, even then nature lovers prefer trekking and enjoying eye-catching scenery and the bird's eye view of the twin cities, offered from the hills.

In fact, there are five trails but two, Trail 3 and 5, have proper sign posts guiding trekkers to different points, including Monal Restaurant and Murad Gali, said the MD.

An adventure group, comprising of different university students said that it is difficult for them to hike on a regular basis but they come once every fortnight and pack along edible food and soft drinks and picnic at designated spots.

A foreign dignitary, while trekking said that he was a regular hiker and exercise gave him immense pleasure and refreshed his thoughts. —APP
