LARKANA, Dec 25: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said it looks strange that those who have just arrived in Pakistan are worried about the country.

Why they remained tight-lipped during Gen Musharraf’s days, he asked, adding what kind of system Tehreek Minhajul Quran chief Tahirul Qadri wanted to be enforced in the country.

Speaking to newsmen at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto on Tuesday after reviewing arrangements for the fifth death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto falling on Dec 27, he asked what kind of ‘change’ he intended to introduce when they had accepted the Constitution of 1973.

The PPP was going to complete its tenure for the first time and it would hold elections in accordance with the 1973 constitution. He said President Asif Ali Zardari had strengthened democratic institutions in the country following guidelines in the constitution.

In reply to a question, the chief minister said that if the federal interior minister submitted a report regarding Benazir Bhutto’s assassination and killers in the meeting of the party central executive committee, it would be made public.

Keeping in view incidents of terrorism in Peshawar, foolproof security arrangements were made in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, he said and appreciated the role of police and Rangers in overcoming such incidents in Karachi.

He said hundreds of thousands of party workers from all over the country would participate in the mega event where President Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and other top leaders would address the public. He said Mr Bhutto-Zardari would start his political career on the occasion.

Sindh Minister for Law Ayaz Soomro, Larkana Commissioner Dr Saeed Mangnejo, Deputy Commissioner Assadullah Abro and DIG Abdul Khalique Shaikh briefed the chief minister on security arrangements.
