Landlords accused of land grabbing

DADU, Jan 12: The district forest officer, Dadu, Mohammad Anwar Baloch, has said that 300 names of big landlords of Dadu district have been sent to the NAB because they have occupied 4,000 acres of state land in the Kundah, Adri, Sona Bindi, Unerpur, Amri, Keti Lelia and Kato Jatoi forests.

He said this while addressing a press conference at his office on Saturday.

He said that he had written to the police to arrest all influential landlords who had occupied the state land illegally, but the police had not cooperated with the forest department.

He said that local landlords were cutting trees in the forests and were occupying the land.

He said that on a tip-off, he had raided Lelia forest and impounded seven tractors and other machinery, which was being used to cut forest trees.

He said that the owners of these tractors and machinery would be arrested and an FIR would be registered against them.

SHOT DEAD: A youth, Madad Ali Babar, 20, was shot dead by four men in the Gari village, near Faridabad, on Saturday.

The Faridabad police registered an FIR against the four accused — Ashiq, Aijaz, Sajid, and Siddique Chandio.

ROBBERY: Three unknown armed men snatched a motorcycle, Rs2,000, and jewellry from a man, Basheer Ahmed Lakhair, on Aghamani Road on Sunday.
