NOWSHERA, Dec 21: Awami National Party leader and former town nazim Mohammad Ilyas was injured after being shot by unidentified motorcyclists here on Friday.
Police said two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on the ANP leader when he was returning home from a local market.
They said Ilyas was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera, but was later referred to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, due to his critical condition.
The Nowshera Kalan police station registered a case against unknown gunmen and began investigation.
However, no arrests could be made until night.
