Mayan Mayhem

Preparations under way for the celebration of the end of the Maya Long Count Calendar -- Bak'tun 13-- and the beginnig of a new era.  Mexico is one of five countries preparing to observe the date on December 21, which marks the end of a more than 5,000-year era, according to the Mayan “Long Count” calendar, which began in 3114 BC. – Photos and text by AFP

Mayan calender ended in 1886 when It completed its era of 5,000 years. The world didn't end then. It woudn't end now.
