KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday appealed to his party workers to observe patience and avoid protesting over contempt of court notice issued against him by the Supreme Court, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to workers over the telephone from London, he asked the people not to appear before the SC on Jan 7 keeping sanctity of the court in mind. “Avoid using derogatory language against the judiciary…..let legal experts of the party attend the court session,” he added.

Altaf Hussain said he will not make the issue personal and will avoid confrontation with the judiciary.

Meanwhile, MQM’s Senator, Barrister Farogh Naseem said the party has decided to file a review petition on Wednesday in SC's Karachi registry, challenging the apex court’s verdict regarding delimitation of constituencies in Karachi.

The Supreme Court had asked the MQM chief to appear before it in person and explain “his contemptuous assertions against the judiciary.”

Earlier, the party's student wing, APMSO,  had staged a protest in front of Karachi Press Club in favour of their leader.
