LAHORE, Dec 16: A robber was killed while another escaped after an exchange of fire with the police in Sabzazar police limits on Sunday.

Saddar SP (Operations) Adeel Hussain Chandio told Dawn two robbers snatched a motorcycle from a citizen in E-Block and later looted cash and jewellery from a couple at gunpoint in L-Block.

He said the police stopped the suspects for checking when they reached A-Block at which they opened fire.

The police retaliated the attack, critically injuring one of the suspects, while the other managed to escape.

The police shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where he died. Chandio said the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained, while the police recovered the snatched motorcycle, cash and jewellery as well as an illegal weapon.
