ABOUT 32 years ago for the entertainment of citizens a public park was established along with a café. Now the park, including the café, has been illegally transferred by a grade 11 TMA clerk. When hue and cry was raised, it was quickly made legal through documents without any public notice being served.

While heading towards the Naushahro Feroze Press Club on a public holiday, I was astonished to see that the public park was under lock and key while labourers were quickly demolishing the ceiling of the cafe.

I tried to contact the TMA Naushahro Feroze but in vain. However, a private TV news channel reporter helped me by covering the news of the café that was being demolished. Soon some TMA staff arrived there and said that the café was being converted into a private medical centre on which two million rupees had already been spent.

I sent applications to the civil judge and other authorities concerned. However, on Dec 1, I again saw the ceiling of the café being demolished by private labourers. Why was the demolition work being carried out by private labourers when the government receives 10 per cent of the budget for doing such work and carrying out repairs? In fact, it has its own engineers, contractors and labourers.

Why were labourers carrying out demolition work on a public holiday?

We request the civic, political, social and administrative authorities to kindly take urgent notice of the café’s demolition. Besides, the park and the café should be reopened to the public as soon as possible so as to facilitate them.
