MANSEHRA, Dec 5: Former MNA Nawabzada Salahuddeen Saeed on Wednesday inaugurated work on Oghi-Darband road, for which Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti had sanctioned Rs120 million.

Construction of the road was a longstanding demand of people of Oghi and Darband and they had also held rallies and protest demonstrations to force the government to initiate work on the project.

Speaking at a public gathering held in connection with groundbreaking of the road, Mr Saeed said that the chief minister had sanctioned the money for start of work on the project. He said that another Rs80 million would soon be provided for second phase of the project.

Mr Saeed, who joined Awami National Party earlier this year, said that he had remained MNA for four times and would continue to serve the people. He said that so far people and transporters had suffered a lot as they had no other option, but to use unfrequented routes to reach Darband from Oghi and other parts of Mansehra. With construction of the new road the travel time would shrink to half, he said.

The former MNA alleged that Mohammad Safdar and MNA Laiq Mohammad Khan were not sincere in solving problems being faced by people of Oghi. — Correspondent
