PESHAWAR: Cable operators end strike

Published January 10, 2003

PESHAWAR, Jan 9: The NWFP Cable Television Network Association has ended their protest and have restored transmissions after their meeting with the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) officials.

They on Thursday met the regional general manager of  Pemra, Sardar Irfan, and ended their strike after assurances of protection by the official.

The  cable  operators had suspended  their  transmission throughout the province on Jan 8 following the damaging of the system of the OK Cables by some miscreants.

A press release of the association said they had temporarily restored the transmissions after the assurances by the Pemra officials regarding the solution of their problem. It said it would also hold meeting with the Pemra chairman, on Jan 11 to apprise him of their problems.
