Food for quake-hit

LAHORE, Jan 8: The Pakistan Medical Association, Lahore, has taken up the responsibility of providing food to 3,300 displaced people of Gilgit.

This was stated by PMA relief committee chairperson Prof Yasmin Rashid here on Wednesday.

She said the committee would provide goods worth Rs1 million to earthquake-hit people every month.

Prof Yasmin appealed to philanthropists and doctors to donate eatables at the committee’s camp at 146/1 Shadman.

She said the first consignment of the relief food items would be sent to the Goner camp on Friday.

ELECTION: The biennial elections of Pakistan Medical Association, Punjab, for 2003-04 will be held at the PMA House on Feb 9.

According to the schedule issued by the election commissioner, nomination papers could be submitted till Jan 21 at 4pm. The papers and objection on nominations would be scrutinized on Jan 26. The papers could be withdrawn till Feb 2 at 4pm and the final list of candidates would be displayed in the evening.
