SWABI, Jan 8: A mother of three children was killed in the presence of police by the husband on Tuesday in a civil court during proceedings.

Police had brought her to the court for attending a case hearing.

The victim, Nargis, resident of Yar Hussain, had allegedly fled with Nur Rehman of Gujar Gari (Mardan) about four months ago.

But after a few days she reported to the Yar Hussain police station that she had been kidnapped by Rehman.

Despite her return, her husband Sheraz refused to accept her and was looking for an opportunity to kill her. In Pakhtoon society there is no place for the women who fled either husband’s or father’s home.

Police had registered a case against the woman under sections 11, 105 and 109 and pushed her behind bars.

Her case was under process in the civil court where she was brought on Tuesday for her case hearing. Both men and women police were present on the occasion, but they failed to shield Nargis when during the court proceeding Sheraz shot her dead.

Though, after killing the wife, Sheraz tried to fled, the police caught him and seized the pistol.
