ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: The Supreme Court has directed that the general body meeting of Lady Dufferin’s Hospital, Quetta, should be held to regulate the affairs of the hospital.
The 3-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Shaikh Riaz, after hearing Salahuddin Mengal, Advocate-General Balochistan, and H. Shakeel Ahmad, stayed the operation of the BHC judgment, and directed the office to fix an appeal for hearing on February 3, 2003.
The court in its order stated that it was brought to its notice that during the pendency of the constitution petitions, order with regard to functioning of Dr Arifa Anwar, was suspended.
The apex court bench observed that it was concerned with regard to the holding of the general body meeting. “We notice that seven of the members, who are also members of the management committee, were present in the general body meeting and no other person participated in it.”
The court directed that the meeting of the general body should take place so that the affairs of the hospital could be conducted effectively.
