PESHAWAR, Jan 8: A ministerial committee constituted by the NWFP chief minister on Drought Emergency Relief Assistance Programme on Wednesday finalized the schemes to be executed under the programme in the 12 drought-hit districts of the province.

The meeting thoroughly reviewed the schemes identified by the district governments concerned and finalized them for onward approval of the federal government.

Under the programme, a large number of irrigation and water supply schemes will be completed, besides construction of four small dams in the province.

It may be mentioned here that the two-year drought relief programme being funded by the World Bank and the ADB was launched in July 2002 and would be completed by June 30, 2004.—APP
