KARACHI, Jan 8: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has set up a cell at the Governor House for receiving public complaints regarding the extortion of money and for providing immediate relief to the complainants.

He asked the citizens to join hands with the government to eradicate the menace.

The complaints can be faxed at No: 9201226 and 9201218. The complaints can also be lodged with the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), Chief Minister House, chief secretary‘s office, and with the Home Department, a press release issued from Governor House said on Wednesday.

It said that the identification of the complainants, if they wanted so, would not be disclosed.

An ordinance had already been promulgated in this regard while the police and intelligence agencies had also been alerted and integrated efforts were being made to eliminate the menace, the governor said.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The governor has directed the traffic police to make it sure that the phone numbers for registering public complaints should be inscribed on the back of the public transport vehicles.

Talking to a delegation of transporters, led by the president, Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI), Irshad Bokhari, which called on him on Wednesday, he stressed the need for effective implementation of the traffic laws and overcoming high rate of fatal accidents.

He said as the death of one person affects the whole family, such accidents could not be tolerated.

He hoped that the transporters would take necessary measures to create awareness about traffic rules.
