LAHORE, Nov 23: Former MNA from Layyah Sardar Ghulam Farid Khan Meerani called on Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at his residence here on Friday and announced joining the PML-Q.

Federal Minister for Defense Production Sardar Bahadur Khan Sehar, former MNA Malik Niaz Muhammad Jhakkar, advisor to the prime minister Imtiaz Ahmad, were also present on the occasion.

Mr Meerani was elected MNA in 1985 and joined PML-Junejo. In the last elections he had supported the Pakistan People’s Party.

Deputy Prime Minister Pervaiz Elahi, who is also PML-Q Punjab president, said that during his tenure as chief minister he had undertaken ‘unprecedented’ development works, especially in south Punjab.

“We have also chalked out a comprehensive plan to bring the south Punjab in the mainstream of national development implementation which we will start after the coming elections.”

He said the people of the south remembered the services rendered for their welfare during the PML-Q tenure, adding that now they could compare the Q tenure with the PML-N regime and see the difference.

Mr Elahi further said the process of development which was initiated during his tenure had been virtually stopped by the PML-N rulers of Punjab.
