DADU, Oct 9: The General Manager, Southern Telecommunication Region-V (STR-V) of PTCL, Syed Mureed Ali Shah, said on Tuesday that STR-V with its headquarters at Sukkur had a total capacity of 120,000 telephone lines in the region and was responsible for the expansion, maintenance and operation of telecommunication service in Sukkur, Larkana, and parts of Hyderabad revenue divisions.

Talking to newsmen, he said that currently about 93,000 telephone connections were working through 89 digital and 95 analogue and manual exchanges.

He said the region was efficiently providing telecommunication service through 12 telegraph/telephone divisions, and it had shown a remarkable achievement in collecting revenue during the last financial year as it generated revenue of Rs1139 million against the assigned target of Rs1092 million.

He also said that 18,000 new telephone connections were provided in the region against the given target of 14,000.

He said that the efforts of the STR-V deserved commendation because the attainment of high revenue target was not an easy task.
