LAHORE, Nov 20: DIG Operations Rai Tahir on Tuesday suspended Defence-A police SHO Faisal Sharif for involving an ANP senator’s son and his two friends in a fake case.

The DIG also issued a show-cause notice to the SHO. Action was taken against him in the light of an inquiry carried out by SSP Sharaq Kamal who held him guilty of the charges.

A senior police official said Defence-A SHO Faisal Sharif had arrested Muhammad Arshad, son of ANP Senator Ghani Bangash, and his two friends from the jurisdiction of the Defence-B police station on Nov 8 and registered a case against them on the charge of possessing illegal weapons and liquor.

He also tortured them and later claimed that the arrested accused tried to attack the police party.

However, the ANP senator challenged the allegation saying that the SHO along with other policemen barged into a house where his son and his two friends were staying. He brought the matter to the knowledge of the police officials and other authorities and demanded impartial inquiry into the matter.

The inquiry conducted by SSP Sharaq Kamal later held SHO Faisal Sharif guilty of the charges and the DIG operations suspended him.
