LAHORE, Nov 20: Dozens of paramedics protested on Tuesday against the medical superintendent (MS) of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for sacking their four colleagues on, what they said, “fabricated charges of misconduct and absence from duties”.

Paramedics and their sacked employees assembled outside the office of the MS in the morning and continued agitation for four hours.

A protestor told reporters that the MS had sacked the paramedic to warn other staffers not raise any voice against his corruption.

Protesters tried to enter the office of the MS and the administration had to call police.

Dr Ijaz Sheikh denied allegations, saying that the employees of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital were sacked by a committee constituted to probe allegations of misconduct, fake academic certificates and absence from duties.

He said the inquiry committee consisted of senior doctors found the four officials guilty of misconduct and other charges and recommended the board of management to terminate them.
