HYDERABAD, Jan 7: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement MPAs, Arshad Shah, Naeem Ishtiaq and Aslam Pervez, have termed the dismissal of 399 primary school teachers in 1998 illegal and demanded their reinstatement.
In a joint statement, issued here on Tuesday, the MPAs said that primary teachers were appointed in the districts of the province in 1998 and the then secretary, education, had expressed satisfaction over their appointment.
They deplored that only the primary teachers of Hyderabad district had been sacked, adding that this discrimination was incomprehensible and against all canons of justice.
They demanded of the government to reinstate the dismissed teachers.
WOMEN TEACHERS: The chairman, Parents-Teachers Action Committee, Hafiz Matloob Ahmed Chishti, here on Tuesday discussed with the EDO, education, Hyderabad, Manzoor Ahmed Bhutto, the issue of 52 terminated women teachers.
Chishti said that the teachers had served for three to eight years and their termination was unjustified.
He suggested that the services of the teachers should be regularized on the basis of their annual confidential reports.
SEMINAR: A seminar was held on Monday in Jamshoro to mark the completion of the first joint venture research project of the Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry of the University of Sindh and the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry of the University of Karachi.
Speakers at the seminar — where research scholar, Shama Afroz Pathan, presented her final PhD thesis, titled ‘High Resolution Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Studies of Chemical Shifts, Coupling Constants, Relaxation Times and Hydrogen Bonding in Quinoline and Some of Its Derivatives’ — expressed the hope that result-oriented research would be conducted in the future.
The research project was funded by the Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr M. Iqbal Chaudhry (T.I.,S.I.) of the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, appreciated the research work of the scholar, saying that joint research work would continue between the two universities.
Appreciating the results of the first joint venture between the Sindh University and the University of Karachi, the vice chancellor of the Sindh University, Dr Mazharul Haq, expressed the hope that the results of the future joint ventures between the two universities would produce even better output.
Acknowledging the work of the research scholar, he said that genuine research work needed a lot of time and hard labour.
