KARACHI, Jan 7: Chairperson of Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Women wing), Dr Farida Ahmad Siddiqui (MNA), has urged the Sindh government to make arrangements for free education up to matric level in all the schools in the province. She quoted the example of Punjab where the provincial government has recently announced the same move recently.

Dr Farida, also regretted that the policy of compulsory primary education was not being implemented in its true letter and spirit.

She lamented that the education sector had been ignored by the successive governments. Even in the current budget, she said, the amount apportioned for education was not sufficient, She called fora review of the situation and a reasonable increase in the allocation.

The MNA called for an end to discrimination in prescribing syllabusand said that all the educational institutions, private or public, should have one syllabus. She stressed the need for ensuring implementation of national language as the medium of instructions in all the schools.
