LAHORE, Nov 14: The Punjab Board of Technical Education chairman has constituted a three-member committee to fix responsibility for issuance of a fake diploma followed by a verification letter.

A private TV channel had forwarded a three-year diploma certificate to the board for verification. While, the board was verifying the document, the TV channel management informed it that it had received a verification letter bearing dispatch number etc.

The board, which was earlier verifying the certificate, found the Diploma of Associate Engineer, second annual examination 1996, with specialisation in electronics technology was fake.

The fake diploma was issued to Imran Zubair, son of Haji Zubair Ahmad, (roll number 18813, serial number 11835 and registration number BTE/RWP/ELC/92/2825).

Cautioned about the latest situation, board chairman Dr Muhammad Shafique has constituted a three-member committee convened by PBTE deputy controller of examinations Muhammad Ayub to probe into the matter on a day-to-day basis and fix responsibility for the irregularity within a week.

Muhammad Abdullah, an instructor at Government College of Technology, Raiwind Road, Lahore and Amjad Pervaiz, PBTE assistant secretary, are members of the committee.

The board chairman has also submitted a report to the police concerned to look into the matter and apprehend culprits.
