In a country so beset with violence, Punjab games are not a bad idea. They caught the imagination of the youth towards not to destroy and kill but to build and respect life. So the games were a very good idea and full marks to the organizers and if Mian Shahbaz Sharif is the man who thought of the idea full marks to him. I for one am four square behind him. Some times he works better than his brother. The Punjab games are certainly not the flute and Mian Shahbaz Sharif is certainly not a Nero. However, there is one small exception the games will enter Moharram by a few days. Somebody should have noticed that. If nobody then Mr Mian Shahbaz Sharif should himself have noticed.
Among other engagements, Mian Shahbaz Sharif also had a 43-member delegation from the Indian Punjab who were here to discuss trade problems. He had to dine these gentlemen apart from discussing mercantile problems with them. Lost in these problems Shahbaz Sharif must have overlooked the games and the day they were to end. These are small matters and somebody in Mr Shahbaz Sharif’s company must have noted and conveyed it to the Chief Minister. It is a small mistake which could cost Mian Nawaz Sharif dearly. I hope that this is not the case and the games end as peacefully as they had begun.

Mr OBAMA has been given a second term in office just now. As a coloured man this is the beginning of a dream come true. We have had several men to serve America as their president. So Mr Obama’s distinction is that he is the first coloured person to live in the White House for eight years. That’s about all because in his first term he did nothing to distinguish himself as the country’s first coloured man who headed the United States.
As the 44th President, his first term in office will be regarded as the most colorless, odourless and tasteless President the Americans have had. To his three qualities must be added another clueless. He played everything as if it was game of baseball. He assumed that every ball was baseless and he considered baseball was his own game. That being so he started the game of baseball in Pakistan. Here the ball was not a ball at all but a drone aircraft under rules of the game that were personally his own. Among his victims were women and children who had probably not heard of Obama or Osama. And then he thought of giving us power and generally one of his aides claimed that Pakistan will soon get 958 megawatts of electricity for the assistance which was generally four to five thousand MW short of so much magnanimity. Now he is in for another term. Similar acts of unilateral magnanimity were on the cards.Pakistan’s one man relationship began under President Eisenhower and Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan. During this period the most often shown picture was that of a camel man. The camel man was a Pakistani and we were let to believe that look you are in the camel age still we have relations with you. This is how it went on with successive presidents and prime ministers. Today nearly 50 years down the road our relationship remains the same but we do not see because our eyes are closed with an iron cloth made in the US.
