NOWSHERA, Nov 9: PPP provincial president Anwar Saifullah Khan on Friday said the military operation against militants in tribal areas would be the last option of the government.

“We will have to create harmony and peace in the region as Pakhtuns are one nation whether they live in Afghanistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or tribal areas. We can resolve our problems through dialogue,” he told a public meeting here.

The PPP leader was flanked by provincial ministers Hamayun Khan and Liaquat Shabab, MNA Tariq Khattak, former federal minister Mian Muzaffar Shah and local leaders Mian Yahya Shah and Mian Feroz Jamal.

Mr Anwar said military crackdown would be the last option of the government against militant groups operating in tribal areas but before that, all other available options would be explored and used.

He said PPP would contest the coming general elections on its own.

He, however, said seat-to-seat adjustments would be made in the elections.

The PPP leader urged the party workers to shun differences and forge unity to ensure victory in the elections in the province and formation of the next government. He said there was no room for conspirators in the party.
