LAHORE, Jan 5: The prevailing Christian-Muslim tension in the world is based on misunderstanding and it can be cooled down through dialogue, Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri said here on Sunday.

The minister said this during a call on prominent Christian leader Bishop Michael Nazir Ali at his residence.

Kasuri told the bishop that he had convened a Muslim-Christian conference at Islamabad on Jan 19 to discuss the problem and find out its solution.

He said a similar conference had already been held in England under the auspices of Bishop of Canterbury and King Hussain of Jordon and a second similar moot was being planned in Qatar with the collaboration of the Ameer of Qatar.

Bishop Nazir Ali urged the United States to respect the human rights by exempting the Pakistanis from strict entry and exit registration imposed by the Naturalization and Immigration Services (INS.

The foreign minister requested Bishop Michael Nazir who is also the member of the House of Lords to raise his voice on the plight of the Kashmiris.—APP
