LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 3: Residents of the Baistkhel union council have complained about lack of basic facilities in the area and blamed their misery on local members of the national and provincial assembly.

The union council having a population of over 15,000 and comprising villages and hamlets is among the most deprived areas of the district.

Locals complained that their elected representatives rarely visited the union council and as a result, there had been no major development work there.

“We’ve not seen any development over the years,” social worker Rustam Khan said.

He said the area had drinking and irrigation water in short supply, scanty health and educational facilities, and broken roads. Mr Rustam criticised local MNAs and MPAs, especially Saifullahs, for not raising voice for Baistkhel residents.

He said several posts of doctors in local health facilities had long been lying vacant to the misery of the people. Mr Rustam also complained of prolonged power loadshedding and broken roads and streets.

He demanded early resolution of Baistkhel union council problems.—Correspondent
