IN spite of the unprecedented destruction caused by super-storm Sandy, America will go to the presidential polls on Nov 6.

Not only that unfailing commitment to transfer of power but also the continuous update that so many days, hours, minutes and seconds are left to the polling moment in the race for the White House strengthens belief in American democracy.

The policies of Americans and their democratic system are not flawless but they have set an example which others may wish to follow.

While I hate predatory US behaviour in international affairs, my hat off to its uninterrupted and peaceful transfer of power after every four years.

Do extremists have any idea of how to hand over power from one regime to another peacefully? America has won almost all wars by force of democracy.

May I ask Imran Khan how his dialogue partners in the Tehrik-i-Taliban-i-Pakistan, if he has any, will handle the process of succession from one government to the next?
