OKARA, Jan 4: Two proclaimed offenders were shot dead in an encounter in Basirpur city, police said on Saturday.

On a tip-off that Faiz Faizi alias Sakhi and Fakhar alias Fakhri were present at Turbat Shah Husain, a Basirpur police party raided the place.

Both the proclaimed offenders opened fire at the police party which retaliated. As a result, Faiz died on the spot. While escaping, Fakhar attempted to deprive Zahid Husain of his new motorcycle. Fakhar shot at and injured Zahid when he put up resistance. Zahid’s condition was stated to be critical at the local hospital.

Later, Fakhar died in the shootout.

Police claimed that Fakhar and Faiz were involved in a number of cases.

TWO KILLED: Exchange of fire over the possession of a plot in Chak No 30/4-L, some 20 km from here, claimed two lives on Friday.

According to details, Muhammad Abbas of Chak No 30/4-L along with his friends came to take possession of the disputed plot where Zahoor Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad were present.

A crossfire resulted in the death of Abbas on the spot. Mushtaq was taken to the DHQ Hospital from where he was referred to a Lahore hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
