ATTOCK, Nov 2: Two men allegedly killed their brother-in-law and critically injured their sister at Hazro on Friday.

Police sources said Shahnaz, a resident of Sahmah Village, had allegedly eloped with a village fellow, Raheem, three months ago and married him.

This infuriated her family who started searching for the couple.

The newly-weds returned home a couple of days back to attend a Jirga called to settle the issue at the Hazro police station on Friday.

The woman’s brothers, Tariq Khan and Majid Khan, attacked the couple and managed to escape from the scene.

Raheem died on the spot while Shahnaz sustained five bullet injuries.

Local police rushed to the scene and shifted the body and the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hazro from where Shahnaz was taken to a hospital in Rawalpindi amid tight security due to her critical condition.

Postmortem of the deceased was being conducted till the filing of this report.

Names of the victims and the accused have been changed to hide their identities
