LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League -Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) have agreed to field joint candidates to contest the coming elections.

This was stated by PPP Punjab President and Federal Minister Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo and PML-Q senior leader Raja Muhammad Basharat during a press briefing after a meeting of the liaison committee of both the parties on Friday night.

Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Nazar Muhammad Gondal, PPP General Secretary Punjab Tanvir Ashraf Kaira and PML-Q Senator Kamil Ali Agha were also present.

Mian Manzoor Wattoo said that the liaison committee discussed various issues related to the elections and reached a consensus that the alliance of both parties would continue following the vision of the leadership of PPP and PML-Q.

He said that there was complete understanding and harmony between the representatives of PPP and PML-Q to contest the upcoming polls jointly.

Wattoo said that both parties will not field candidates across the province individually. He said that electable candidates from both sides will be given party tickets for the elections, of both national and provincial assemblies, after consensus.

The PPP Punjab president said that no party would be deprived in the distribution of tickets for the elections as the committee decided in principle the parameters for the purpose.

Mian Manzoor Wattoo said that those who wanted to see differences between the PPP and PML-Q would see their hopes shattered after the solidarity shown by both parties.

PML-Q senior leader Raja Muhammad Bisharat, while speaking to the media, said that both the parties will field suitable candidates in the elections.

He expressed the resolve that the PPP-PML-Q alliance will win the elections and serve the masses.

Earlier the liaison committee meeting was held at the Governor House, which was chaired by Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo.

Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira,Federal Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal, PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi,Raja Muhammad Basharat, Senator Kamil Ali Agha and PPP Punjab General Secretary Tanvir Ashraf Kaira attended the meeting.
