HYDERABAD, Jan 4: The University of Sindh on Saturday notified that the date for submission of applications for receiving degrees at the Sindh University Convocation 2001 has been extended till Jan 15.

Candidates, desirous of receiving their degrees in the Convocation, have been advised to submit their applications along with pay order/demand draft of Rs1,000 in the name of the university’s controller of examinations within the due date.

The Convocation 2001 will be held on Jan 30 at the Madar-i- Millat, Fatima Jinnah Gymnasium, Allama I. I. Kazi Campus, Jamshoro.

The governor of Sindh, who is the chancellor of universities in the province, would preside over the Academic Convocation 2001.

Degrees would be conferred upon students, who have passed their Ph.D., M.Phil., masters, and bachelors in various disciplines from the university.

The vice chancellor of the university, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, on Saturday visited the Fatima Jinnah Gymnasium to inspect arrangements for the Convocation. The registrar of the university, Dr Saeed Ahmed Soomro was also present on the occasion.

SPSC: The secretary, Sindh Public Service Commission, Hyderabad, has informed that the Commission interviewed eligible candidates for the post of senior registrar, paediatrics (BPS- 18), in the health department of Sindh and found Dr Arbab Ali Junejo, son of Mohammad Daim, (rural), suitable for the post and has recommended his name to the government of Sindh for appointment.

The announcement however, said that above result does not entitle the candidate to be appointed to the post as a matter of right.

MUET: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology has warned the students of 99, 2K, one, two and three batches against proceeding on self-granted leave.

The announcement warned that as per the decision, taken in the meeting of the academic heads of the university, absentee students would not be given full marks for attendance.

He advised the students to attend the classes regularly and refrain from proceeding on self-granted leave.
