KARACHI, Jan 4: A man and a boy died in traffic accidents in the city on Saturday.

A 45-year-old man died in a road accident on Super Highway.

Police said that the victim, identified as Yateem Khan, came under the wheels of a vehicle (JE-6719) while walking across the road. He suffered serious head injuries. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The vehicle driver escaped. Police impounded the vehicle.

A 10-year-old boy, Gulzada, was run over by a truck in Pak Colony.

The boy was sleeping under a heavy vehicle. The vehicle driver, who was unaware that the boy was sleeping under the vehicle, ignited the engine and sped away. The boy died on the spot.

ROBBERIES: Seven robberies, one burglary and one theft were committed in the city on Saturday and late Friday night, police said.

Two bandits entered Allah Tawakkal Car Gas Centre, a shop owned by Mohammed Saghir in Qayyumabad C-Area, and held Saghir and those present at the shop at gunpoint. They snatched Rs52,000 from Saghir and Rs25,000 from his friend, a mobile phone and other valuables. The bandits escaped without facing any resistance. Saghir repeatedly attempted to contact police on “Madadgar 15,” but no one attended the phone at police’s end. Police arrived late at the spot after Saghir had somehow managed to contact a senior police officer.

Bandits barged into house of Shahid Husain in North Nazimabad, held the family hostage at gunpoint and got away with cash, jewellery and other valuables.

Dacoits robbed patients and their attendants of jewellery and other valuables in the clinic of Dr Atiqur Rahman in TPX police limits.

Three bandits entered a shop owned by Bashir Ahmed in Landhi, held him at gunpoint and got away with cash, mobile phones and phone-calling cards.
