Farmer shot at, injured

KASUR, Jan 3: A farmer was seriously injured when employees of Chunian’s Brothers Sugar Mills opened fire on him on Friday.

Sources said Iftikhar Ahmad had got into a quarrel with the mill’s employees over measurement of the weight of sugar cane.

Other farmers protested against the attitude of mill’s employees.

The Chunian police are looking into the matter.

RUN OVER: A Class-IX student died after being run over by a speeding bus near Chowk Illahabad.

Sources said Sawana was crossing a road on her way home after school when she was hit by the bus (LHO-7796) going from Kasur to Multan.

She sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Lahore, where she died.

The Illahabad police have arrested the bus-driver, Khalil Ahmad.
