KARACHI, Oct 25: At least four persons, including an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were gunned down in different parts of the city on Thursday, police said.

The police added that 35-year-old Kamran Mirza was killed in a drive-by shooting in Block 16 of Federal B Area on Thursday evening. The attackers were riding a motorbike, said an official of the Joharabad police station, adding that they fired multiple shots at him and sped away.

The official said that the victim sustained three gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment.

The police said Mr Mirza was a Muttahida activist and the party’s water board unit chief.

Following the killing, tension gripped the locality, with closure of shops and markets in the area.

Man found shot dead

Earlier, a young man was found shot dead on Mauripur Road on Thursday morning, police said.

The victim’s body was dumped by the roadside from a moving car within the remit of the Kalri police station, officials said.

The victim said to be in his mid-20s had been shot in the head, said a duty officer of the Kalri police station.

The police later shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Body found

In the early hours of Thursday, the body of an unidentified man was found near Tibet Centre within the remit of the Preedy police station.

The police said the body bore torture marks, with a gunshot wound in the head. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination.

Following the medico-legal formalities, the body was taken to the Edhi morgue for want of identification. However, till Thursday night the body could not be identified, the police said.

‘Robbers’ kill man

A young man was killed while resisting a mugging attempt in Orangi Town on Thursday night, police said.

The police added that Mohammad Iqbal, 60, tried to resist the robbery in Aligarh Bazaar within the remit of the Orangi Town police station when he was shot dead.

Following the shooting, the robbers fled, the police said.

The body was shifted to Qatar hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim had suffered a gunshot wound in the chest, the police added.
