GHALANAI, Oct 25:  The people in Mohmand agency will celebrate Eidul Azha with Saudi Arabia on Friday as announcements have been made through loudspeakers by the local ulema in this regard.

The tribal people said that Eidul Azha would be celebrated in most parts of Fata including North and South Waziristan agencies on Friday (today). The Afghan refugees, living in Pakistan, have also announced to celebrate Eid on Friday.

JIRGA: A jirga of Haleemzai tribesmen was held with the political authorities at agency headquarters Ghalanai to discuss bombing of school buildings and lawlessness in the region.

Naib Tehsildar Shamsul Islam said that Haleemzai tribesmen had agreed that owners of the schools in the tribal region would be responsible for protection of the educational institutions. It was decided that the owner would rebuild the school if it was targeted by militants, he added.

Mr Islam said that it was also decided that all the incentives and salaries of the owners would be stopped if such incidents occurred in future.

Through a notification the watchmen were directed to remain present in the schools round the clock to save the buildings from saboteurs.

The notification said that in case of any mishap the tribal elder in the area would be responsible and he would have to rebuild the school. It said that action would be taken against tribal elders for not fulfilling their territorial responsibilities. — Correspondent
