LAHORE: More than 24,000 Pakistanis Monday formed the world's largest “human national flag” in the eastern city of Lahore, smashing a five-year-old record set in Hong Kong, officials said.

A total of 24,200 people stood up in the national hockey stadium to make the green and white Pakistani standard, smashing the 2007 record set by 21,726 people in Hong Kong.

“It's amazing, amazing display of unity of 24,200 people here in Lahore tonight,” Guinness World Records adjudicator Gareth Deaves told a cheering crowd.

“Every single one of you holds this record,” he said, handing over the certificate to Punjab provincial government representative Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.

On Saturday night 42,813 people in the national hockey stadium sang the national anthem together, smashing the previous best of 15,243 held by India.

Move beyond this tokenism. Start movement to force your govenment to control corruption, stop ethnic discrimination, stop harbouring terrorists. Focus on nation building rather than being your neighbour centric all the time.

Move beyond such things. Making a human flag is no achievement of any worth. Use nationalism to bring your nation to right track where minorities and women are respected. Fight against corruption and stop your goverment from supporting terrorists.

Who is Hamza ? And what is the worth of the certificates distributed by him. Let him first eradicate poverty and illiteracy. Let the Sharifs bring back the wealth looted from the poor then we can take pride. What is the use of useless symbols which mean nothing half a second after they are done.

Today we have to believe that we are only PAKISTANI . We are not Punjabi,Sindhi,Mahajir,Balochi or Pathan we are ONE and we are only a Pakistani. This should be our only identity and the same message we should send to the whole world not by words only but by our actions as well. We should start this practice from ourselves (individual) which will spread into group of people and ultimately (Insha Allah) in all four provinces of Pakistan . Let start lets bring a change !!!

Salman, you talk about energy problems, the truth is, Pakistan under Zia sahib was working on 4th dimension energy, i.e. harnessing energy through djinns . A very well read ulema was close to success when this was thwarted by Rothschild and group sponsored CIA to protect western oil companies. Don't underestimate Pakistan, inshaallah, we'll have men on moon very soon !

Nationalism is a concept alien to Islam because it calls for unity based on family and tribalistic ties, whereas Islam binds people together on the `Aqeedah, that is belief in Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saaw). Islam calls for the ideological bond. Grouping the Muslims on tribalistic lines is clearly forbidden. It is narrated by Abu Da'wud that the Messenger of Allah (saaw) said, "He is not one us who calls for `Asabiyyah, (nationalism/tribalism) or who fights for `Asabiyyah or who dies for `Asabiyyah."

With respect ... It's a beautiful flag in a stadium, and you can be justly proud of that. Then, after leaving the stadium, DO something about it to promote dignity and honor for all persons in daily life: fix the terrorism problem that is narrowly defining and destroying the nation.
