CHAKWAL, Oct 20: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said his government planned to distribute 200,000 more laptops among students in an effort to promote education in the province.

“The Punjab government has resolved to give 200,000 more laptops to the bright students of the province and these laptops would be distributed in December,” the Punjab chief minister revealed while speaking at a ceremony at Cadet College Kallar Kahar.

PML-N MNAs Ayaz Amir, Sardar Mumtaz Tamman and MPAs Malik Tanvir Aslam Sethi, Iffat Liaquat, Malik Zahoor Anwar Awan and other leaders were also present on the occasion.

Mr Sharif said: “We have recruited 75 teachers recently purely on merit and now these teachers are performing their duties in the province”.

Commenting on Danish schools, he said the project of Danish schools was his dream which had materialised now.

“The children of those parents whose monthly income is Rs3,000 or less than 3,000 have been admitted to Danish schools where they are getting quality education,” he maintained.

He said that separate campuses for boys and girls had been established in these schools and highly qualified teachers were recruited.

He also announced a grant of Rs40 million for the Cadet College Kallar Kahar.

Later, talking to reporters he criticised the Pakistan People’s Party, saying the country was weak due to corruption. “The country is burning while the rulers are busy constructing their palaces,” he added.

“If the Zardari government has any spare time, it should come out of palaces, so that it could understand the miserable plight of the masses,” he said.

“Bribery and corruption are ruling the roost in the country. We would eliminate such evils when in power,” he vowed.
