LAHORE, Oct 19: Cantonment Division police claim to have arrested 12 members of an inter-provincial dacoits gang and recovered looted items, including weapons and cash, from their possession.

Talking to the media at his office on Friday, Cantonment Division SP Maroof Safdar Wahla said the gang was involved in 13 incidents of heinous crime registered against them at various police stations. He claimed that during investigation, 27 more cases were traced against them.

Wahla said all the 12 members of the inter-provincial gang were arrested by the Baghbanpura police. He said the police seized 12 pistols, 102 bullets, 10 mobile phones, two snatched motorcycles and Rs500,000 in cash besides other looted items.

Those arrested were identified as Manzoor Ahmad, Piran Ditta, Zafar Iqbal, Nazir Ahmad, Salamat, Faryad, Majid, Adnan, Ramzan, Ghulam Qadir and Arshad.

The SP said the police were conducting raids for the arrest of their three absconding accomplices.

Operations DIG Rai Tahir had announced commendatory certificates for the police officials who busted the gang.
