Strike at Pims continues

ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: The doctors of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Friday continued their strike in the OPD and Elective Operation Theatre. They also protested against the alleged torture of doctors by security guards of VIPs.

They also decided not to work in courtesy centre which was established for parliamentarians, bureaucrats and other important personalities because VIPs come along with security guards who often misbehaved with doctors.

According to doctors, on Thursday Principal, Frontier Medical College Abbottabad, Dr Shaheena Jamil’s guard tortured a doctor, and when the Young Doctors Association went for negotiations, they again attacked doctors and injured Dr Ali, Dr Abdul Razzaq and Dr Zahid.

On Friday, doctors had a meeting with the executive director, Dr Riaz Warraich, but failed to get assurance regarding security, so they closed the OPD and operation theatre and announced that they will continue their strike until they get assurance regarding security.
