LAHORE, Oct 18: A judicial magistrate sent on Thursday Ali Imran Yousaf, son-in-law of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Mr Yousaf had courted arrest a day earlier and the Defence-B police registered a case against him under Section 109 of the PPC (charges of abetment).

The police produced the accused before the Cantonment Court magistrate and sought a judicial remand because physical custody was not required.

The investigation officer said Mr Yousaf had ordered his private guard and seven Elite Force personnel to beat up Irfan, an employee of a bakery after he had refused to deliver a cake to a woman customer stated to be Mr Yousaf’s wife.

The magistrate issued a notice to police on a bail petition filed by Yousaf through Advocate Rana Asadullah Khan.

The counsel said the police had summoned his client to the police station to record statement. However, they arrested him with mala fide intention.

He said the accused was neither nominated in the FIR nor any independent witness was produced by police.

Advocate Khan requested the court to release his client on bail because the matter was being investigated.

The magistrate, however, adjourned hearing till Friday and directed the police to file their reply. The accused was later shifted to the Camp Jail.
