ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requested to the Supreme Court on Wednesday that during the general elections the returning officer of each constituency should be the members of the judiciary, DawnNews reported.

During a event organised in lieu of ‘Voters-day’ in Islamabad, Acting Chief Election commissioner Tassaduq Jilani said that the returning officer, during the general election, should not be a member of the administration but should be from the judiciary.

The acting CEC said that he has also written a letter to the apex court in this regard. Adding that, he said that Chief Justice has been requested to overview the judicial policy in this matter.

The judicial policy bares the appointment of the returning officer from the judiciary.
