Shah Nawaz grabs winner

KARACHI, Jan 1: Shah Nawaz struck in the 62nd minute to help Shahzad Mohammadan cruise into the final round of the All-Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto football tournament after a 1-0 upset victory over Shafi XI Wednesday.

Malir National also moved into the final round after handing Malir Mohammadan 4-0 defeat thanks to Mohammad Arshad and Ghulam Ali’s double.

The winners went 2-0 up before breather when Arshad grabbed his first in the 11th minute and Ghulam Ali in the 29th minute. Both got their double after resumption with Ghulam scoring in the 66th minute, while Arshad finished off three minutes later.

Young Jamal became the third team to advance into the final round after a convincing 3-0 triumph over Usman Shaheed.

The winners waited until the 49th minute for the first goal that came through Abdul Jabbar. Eid Mohammad fired home the second in the 56th minute and Mohammad Arif sealed the fate of the match in the 63rd minute.

Abdul Rasheed’s 24th-minute winner enabled Himayati XI score 1-0 win over Young Bilal.

Second half raids by Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Moosa guided All Brothers to a 2-0 victory over Malir Union.

Baloch Youth scored an identical 2-0 win over Hunter Sports with goals from Ashiq Ali and Mohammad Farooq.
