KARACHI: Veteran all-rounder Abdul Razzaq on Monday replied to the show-cause notice issued to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for criticising Pakistan's Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez, DawnNews reported.
Razzaq had lashed out at Hafeez for not picking him for the World T20 semi-final against Sri Lanka. He was replaced by left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir in the match that Pakistan lost by 16 runs, allowing Sri Lanka to reach the final.
“It was Hafeez’s decision not to pick me for the semi-final, not anyone else’s,” Razzaq said.
In his reply, Razzaq said that his remarks were not intended to hurt anyone and were said in anger. He added that he was upset at not being included in the team and apologised for his outburst, saying that he had no conflict with anyone in the team.
According to sources, the PCB is not satisfied with the reply and is likely to impose a heavy fine on Razzaq.
PCB has served him the show-cause notice saying that Razzaq had breached the player’s code of conduct, which forbids players from speaking to the media without prior permission from the board.
“Razzaq has violated the code of conduct and we have served him a show-cause notice. He has seven days to answer the notice,” PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar had said.
PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf later clarified that Razzaq's exclusion from the semi-final line-up had been unanimous.
Razzaq played one match during Pakistan’s World T20 2012 campaign, when he was picked in the Super Eight tie against Australia in which he scored 22 runs. The all-rounder was also part of the team in the two warm-up matches prior to the tournament.
The right-arm batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler made his debut for Pakistan in 1996 and has played 265 one-day internationals, 46 Tests and 30 T20 internationals for his country.

All these players are bound by a contract with PCB which requires them not to give interviews. Secondly most of our players are not educated enough to know what to say and when to say. Australian board require players to complete their education as welll as groom players to face media.

This is not about freedom of speech. PCB is just like any organization where employees must abide by code of conduct. Imagine if someone in a company has personal conflict with any other employee how it will disturb the company's environment. Internal matters should be resolved internally in any organization. Emotions should not overcome senses.

shame on PCB and Mr. Zaka Ashraf, first losing to India (throwing the match) and then losing to Srilanka and covering the loser captain,,,, what if this was afridi statement they would have same action, just because Abdul Razaq is soft spoken PCB trying to throw weight around, they should be taking action against the team management or the captain who dropped abdul Razzaq.... this is just not acceptable action from PCB... I and millions of Pakistanis support Abdul Razzaq. Shame on PCB and Mr. Zaka Ashraf.... this is very poor action, if this was australia team they retire half the team and change captain straight away but sadly this is pakistan...no wonder they are not champion in any format or even in top three.... shame shame PCB and Zaka......

Principally, They signed contract which states that so i guess it is a breach. On the other side Razzaq's bad luck because he is a decent player and deserve more support.

Razzaq admitted to mistake. Issue a warning and call it a toast. He is an honest cricketer with no prior record of similar infraction. PCB has to show that they value positive past contribution and use this opportunity to build bridges and help Razzaq recover from this fall.

Rzzaq has broken the law he knows it well. There should be no 'if ' & 'but ' . He should set a good example for young players to be law abiding and realize their future mistakes quickly. If PCB finds him guilty, he should accept it with dignity and pay the fine to close the matter fast. I have seen several comments in favour of Razzaq. But he must not have second thoughts due to those favourable comments, because it is he who will lose in the end. Pietersen ( of UK ) is a good example.

PCB is treating its players as slaves, only to speak that pleases the masters. Razzaq is being penalized for speaking the truth. Team Pakistan will never grow under the current adhock system of appointment of the big bosses. Action should be taken against whoever side lined Razzaq. A report giving reasons for Pakistan cheap loss in semi final should be published

i am sick and tired of hearing that Razzaq is a match winner (1 in 20 outings?), he is talented (what will we do with talent alone without application) etc etc. The fact is that he has got a pretty ordinary mind and he has mostly wasted his talent.

playing 11 should NOT be just a captains call as we know our captains are dishonest and favor one over the other , in this case the world knows Hafeez is underminning Razzaq consistently I think the moment captains give fake / favoritism they should be questioned by the the coaches..

Well Razzaq made one mistake so he has to pay fine. He is a a desent person, never made any trouble. He has been outof the team on many occasion but never said anythings. There are some players who don't deserve in the team and suddenily you will find the. The whole of PCB is corrupt with bad sheeps. Whatever Mr Zaka Ashraf says is just joke.

Whether you agree with Sohail Tanveer's selection as a better choice for the semis or not... (I personally do) A. Razzaq should not have gone public on that. I think that we should all give Hafeez a chance as a captain. Have you seen any Bailey bashing in Australia for all of his wrong decisions?

Unfotunately you were / are not a selector. Your opinion is only personal. At the time of war genral does not go by public opinion rather by ground realities. I am sure you would have praised Hafeez had Pakistan won the match in samifinals, with the same selection. Srilanka fielded the best team ever but still lost to most unexpected team ' West Indies' . They did not have any selection issue. Bottom line is that we must improve our performance over all and learn to play in high pressure games, e.g. against India, Australia, South Africa.

You don't deal honest and hardworking person the same way as lazy and manipulative person (which PCB and the team has plenty of); at times the style of management also betrays where the problem is...and everybody in Pakistan understands that and Razzak has to be punished for not fittin in that chain of beneficiaries.......

Abdul Razak is a genuine all rounder. In fact he should have been included in playing squad against India and Srilanka both. I am sure he would have made difference . Any way, we can not justify his outburst against captain. Action taken by PCB is very correct.

Razaq made a honest statement in response to questions from reporters.
If any one had to be dropped it was Afridi for his constant failure with bat & ball.
Imran Nazir was another constant failure and should have been dropped as we had 2 more openers in Jamshed & Kamran Akmal.

I do not know what rules and norms PCB have set for these players regarding their statements infront of media. But I know one thing that Razzaq was a more reliable player than anyother for such important match. We as viewrs were surprised everytime he was dropped from the list apart from one match against Australia. Honest people with less access to big

Slow game by captain, reckless shots and nervous batting by others resulted into defeat in semi final. Look at the performance of Shoaib Malik through out the tournament. Abdul Razaq was a much better player to be included in the team. He is very dependable player and his presence in the team would have made a difference. He has necessary confidence and skill and is a match winning player.
PCB and captain should take the responsibility for poor planning and team performance; accept the criticism, learn from it instead of rebuking and fining Abdul Razaq. Fining him will not enhance the stature of PCB. This will also not stop players, media and/or masses from criticizing PCB for its team selection.

Please see A. Razzaq's record. He has been a "game changer" more than once. With his many sixes and fours at the end, he made Pakistan snatch victory from claws of defeat. Everybody knows that he is usually a dependable and good all-rounder. He is a sincere, honest and a humble person. When God can grant forgiveness to our sins, we, humans should not be so rigid and harsh to this player. We are not above God. And Cricket rules are made by humans. Please, A. Really?? Personal conflict?? It is favoritism.So how would the best batsman left out of team, should resolve this issue internally.Do you know how corrupt is PCB. Wasim Bari and Intikhab Alam the two yes man of PCB have been there for more then the entire careers of two generations of cricketers. So if you were in Razzaq shoes, would you send flowers to team management.Code of conduct?? Is it code of conduct to keep selecting Afridi and chronic poor performer Shoaib Mailk at the cost of a match winner

Razzak is one of the best players of Pakistan, & it always happens in Pakistan that anyone who is the best performer is kept at side & all illiterate cheaters & looters come on board. Same thing happened with Razzak, whole world wants Razzak to play all the matches instead of Afridi, Shoaib Malik & Imran Nazir but all idiot PCB & Moron Captain is just ignoring the best available player. I think Razzak should be given Pakistan's highest medal of honor instead of punishment & all the looser captains should be made to face People of Pakistan after a big loss. So in future no one try to cheat Pakistani cricket & people of Pakistan.

I need to get the hell out of here.... this son of a gun wasn't interested in winning at all..his body language was like a trapped animal looking to escape. What else could I say.... Shame on them.
