BEIJING, Jan 1: Two-way trade between China and the United States jumped 19.6pc to US$87.97bn in the first 11 months of last year from the same period in the previous year, state media said on Wednesday. Trade analysts predict the trade volume may top US$92bn for the entire year, the official Xinhua news agency said.

American investment in China also surged, both in terms of the number of projects and the amount of money involved.

The number of US-funded firms established in China went up by 30 per cent during the first 11 months of last year from the same period in 2001, the report said.

From January to November, a total of 3,024 US firms were set up in China, it said.

Contractual investment from the US reached US$7.8bn, accounting for more than 10pc of all the contracted overseas investment China received, Xinhua said.—AFP
