After a long, long time ace writer Hasina Moin is back on Pakistani television. Thank heavens for that. Those of you who have been crying out loud for quality scripts on television, your wish has come true.

Hasina M has penned a couple of plays for a private entertainment channel and they’ve been very well promoted. What made or compelled the great writer to write scripts for the smaller screen one more time is not known; it is a welcome sign nonetheless. However, the thing that remains to be seen is that over the years the work environment, the quality of actors and the commercial requirements for a ‘hit’ drama serial have changed. One of the two plays that Hasina M has scripted is directed by a young director — well, he’s not that young anymore. How the new setup treats a good script will not only be a big challenge for the famous writer but for TV audiences as well. — PYT
